Tis’ the Season: Cultural Identity & Justice During the Holidays

What does it mean to celebrate the birth of Jesus in ways that are authentic and meaningful to who you are as a cultural being? How can you celebrate Christmas in ways that are whole, beautiful and just?

Some of us may have never reflected on these questions before. Others have been living at the intersection of their faith and culture for quite some time.

Wouldn’t it be amazing if people of different cultures and ethnicities could sit down with each other, share parts of their story and wrestle with this topic together?

We thought so, too.

This Christmas season, SheLoves Magazine had the honor to partner with Pax for part two of their holiday series called “Tis’ the Season: Cultural Identity & Justice During the Holidays.” Together, we aimed is to intentionally make space for a multicultural Christmas.

We invited our audience to share on Instagram how they experience peace, justice and wholeness during this holiday season. You can see a compilation of these stories in Pax’s Medium publication, Archetype.

We also hosted a roundtable discussion on faith and culture at Christmas, hosted by Michelle Reyes and featuring Jai Patel, Karla Mendoza, Lindi Mpofu, Will Neusch, Abby Bonilla, and Leah Abraham. You can watch it here (https://youtu.be/Pe05QHTmEWQ):
