Submissions Guidelines

Thank you so much for considering writing for SheLoves Magazine!

Here at SheLoves Magazine, we believe stories are sacred. Your story holds power. When our editors work with you, we bear this in mind and treat your work as such.

Each month, we tackle topics that stir hearts, decolonize minds, deconstruct faith, demonstrate solidarity and allyship, heal what is broken, celebrate what is beautiful, and long to liberate all things and all beings.

We are always looking for fresh and brave voices to champion and feature on our site, especially voices of womxn of color and LGBTQIA+ womxn.

To get a sense of what we’re looking for, please take some time to read over the SheLoves Magazine Manifesto, our About Us page, and several of our previously published posts. This will give you an idea of our voice, our mission, and our heartbeat.

Themes for 2020

This year, we plan to explore these topics:

  • August: Not My White Jesus: The white, male, cis-gendered Jesus is a myth that breeds white supremacy. It does not liberate ALL people, and it limits our understanding of true and extravagant Love. How does this myth hinder our faith, our growth, and our communities? What are alternative ways to see and experience Christ?

    Deadline: July 25

  • September: Creative Resistance: Resistance isn’t just protests, civil disobedience, and blog posts. It is a posture and a lifelong journey. How can we redefine resistance to reshape our understanding of justice? Can we find creative and sustainable ways to resist the empire and unearth the kin-dom of God?

    Deadline: August 15

  • October: An immigrant perspective: Immigrants straddle two (or more) worlds, two realities, two paradigms. What can the immigrant perspective teach us about colonialism, theology, community, justice, intersectionality, God, and self?

    Deadline: September 15

  • November: Poetry: Poetry is the language of the soul. It can liberate and connect us in unexpected ways. We want to highlight emerging poets who show us how to see the world through new lenses.

    Deadline: October 15

  • December: TBD

Submission Guidelines

  • Original content: We request all submitted content be original. We do not accept previously published blog posts.
